Meet the Doula-Asia Sikkila
I trained as a doula in 2004 with Elizabeth Davis, the author of Heart and Hands. In 2006 I lived in Senegal, West Africa and for 5 years hosted a Midwifery and Doula exchange program where Westerners came and worked with the local midwives in a birth clinic. I have supported women in a wide spectrum of birth experiences, from rural home births to hospital births.
I recently moved back to Michigan from Northern California where I served women at our local birth center with Prenatal and Postpartum bodywork. My clients, as well as the midwives, saw a huge advantage to receiving this type of care. I love supporting women through the childbearing year!
I believe the time of pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period is the most beautiful and enriching time in a woman’s life. I find it truly an honor to be a part of your process. As your Doula I vow to respect and honor your vision and maintain a presence that supports this miraculous experience. In my free time you might find me working on another of my passions (https://awanya.com)
