Asia Sikkila

Birth and Postpartum Doula

I trained as a doula in 2004 with Elizabeth Davis, the author of Heart and Hands. In 2006 I lived in Senegal, West Africa and for 5 years hosted a Midwifery and Doula exchange program where Westerners came and worked with the local midwives in a birth clinic.

I have supported women in a wide spectrum of birth experiences, from rural home births to hospital births.

For years, I’ve had a passion for babies! Loving and caring for infants and families has always been a part of me.

During high-school, I became increasingly interested in midwifery and after much research, I knew becoming a doula was perfect for me! I have years of experience as a nanny and have used that experience to fuel my passion.

I am a Postpartum & Infant Care Doula with ProDoula and I am so excited to be able to help support you and your new baby as you make this exciting transition.

Khadijah Bansfield Ann Arbor Postpartum Doula Team

Khadijah Bansfield

Birth & Postpartum Doula, Midwife-In-Training

I am an AMANI certified doula and childbirth educator, a birth assistant, and a student midwife.

I lived abroad for many years where I became a doula in 2012 and attended dozens of births and raised childbirth education awareness to hundreds of women.

I am very passionate about advocating for women's rights, especially childbirth rights, and raising awareness about the importance of postpartum care.

One of my favorite sayings is " It take a village to raise a child, but a community of love and support to raise a mother."

Aireal Thomas

Birth & Postpartum Doula

I am a Birth and Postpartum Doula who found great passion in supporting families educationally, emotionally, and physically. This passion derived from my own traumatic experience with birth.

Instead of focusing on the event and wishing I could change it, I decided to pour that energy into supporting other families with the best quality of care.

My goal is to educate families on their rights and options regarding birth and postpartum care so that each family feels supported and well equipped to make informed decisions with confidence. I want to help you ensure your voice and wishes are heard!

In addition to my Doula work, I also provide breastfeeding support, nutrition support, mental health support, and I make natural skin and hair care products.

Postpartum Doula & Infant Care Specialist

I have loved babies ever since I was old enough to take care of them, and have always been around and helping out with children. I was looking at childcare jobs when a friend of the family told me about the world of doulas, and I knew it was exactly what I was meant to do!

She is compassionate and cares about giving her clients the best care possible. She gives her clients non judgmental and unbiased support. She is so excited to to work with women and make their postpartum experience the best it possibly can be.

Micaela McHenry

Postpartum Doula & Infant Care Specialist

My name is Micaela - my friends, and family call me Mickey. Please, feel free to also call me Mickey. My pronouns are she/her/ella.

I was born in the beautiful Desert in Mesa, Arizona. My husband and I moved to Michigan in early Fall of 2018 for his job. I am so fortunate to have also lived in Charleston, South Carolina and Saratoga Springs, New York.

Some of my favorite things to do are take my sweet dogs on long walks or to play at the dog park, reading, painting, hiking, cooking, and yoga; I am currently enrolled in a 200hr YTT that I hope to complete by the end of this Summer. I have been a postpartum doula since 2009, and a birth doula since 2013 - sometimes I am shocked when I say that out loud. Time really flies when you're having fun. I carry Indigenous lineage from both Mexico and America, and I like to incorporate my ancestry into some of my practices.

I enjoy watching new parents blossom, and new families flourish...and of course tending to those brand new sweet squishy babies. I cannot wait to meet you, and your families.

Birth & Postpartum Doula

My name is Heather Emerson, my pronouns are she/her. I have loved serving in Michigan's birth community for the last 15 years. I was educated in birth and postpartum doula services by Patty Brennan at the Center for the Childbearing Year in Ann Arbor with the DONA program, with Barbara Robertson for my education in breastfeeding support, with Becca Morse for babywearing, safe sleep, and airway safety.

Along with my specialized training, I have extensive experience with multiples and households with Autistic members.

Caring for birthing persons, babies and children has always been my lifelong passion, starting doula work in my freshman year of college. I strive to provide a support structure to aid any healing needed, strengthen family bonding with your infant(s), and work with you to create parenting strategies that fit your vision for your new family. I advocate for all families and the value of everyone having their best start in life and parenthood.
